About

{ARTIST STATEMENT}
Observing the beauty in things that otherwise would have gone unnoticed is a critical part of my approach as an artist. My inspiration is derived from everyday things; animals, people, nature, and experiences. Although I have a deep passion for animal portraiture, my subjects range widely. Whether it is a loosely painted scene, a detailed illustration or a digital collage. My goal is to convey my own sense of passion for these things while including art and design aesthetic in my work.

Having had a career in the graphic design field as a Design Manager/Art Director in New York City for over 10 yrs has given me a broader sense of creativity. Experimenting with graphic design, illustration, painting and collage techniques allows me to be a more flexible artist. I feel fulfilled artistically expressing myself in many mediums and consider this singular conceit to be one of my strengths — my versatility. I enjoy incorporating my design experience into my work using interesting compositions and bold colors, more recently, adding this style into my animal portraits. I like to describe my work as capturing a moment – a feeling in time. My style of painting is mostly representational and my technique is a combination of many things I have learned over the years. I am still experimenting and therefore, do not adhere solely to any one discipline. I consider myself to be continually evolving as an artist.

{BIO}
Ivy Antonio has always had a deep passion for art. She was certain from a very early age that art was going to be a strong influence in her life. She remembers loving observing, drawing and creating. Getting lost in her own world, drawing in solitude was her favorite activity growing up.

Ivy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Illustration. Born and raised in Connecticut to Latin parents from both Colombia and Ecuador, Ivy grew up speaking Spanish as her first language and traveled extensively to both countries during her summers to visit family. Both embracing her culture and traveling opened her eyes to many things at a tender age and influenced who she is as an artist. Her life in New York City after college and her love of nature and animals has had a great impact on her art as well.

Ivy now lives in New Jersey with her husband Pat and their beloved beagle Duke.
