Fireflies photomontage/digital |
Hi there! I have been gone for a few days, lost in my own world. Today I decided to come up for air and share "Fireflies" a digital collage I have been working on for several days. Yes, I know it's a bit dark but it just evolved as I worked. I also think this piece fits pretty well with IF "Satellite". Fireflies came to me one night while I was outside surrounded by flickering little lights. I watched them quietly for hours, like when I was a child, amazed by how often these little bugs would light up and surprised at where my thoughts took me. Thoughts of childhood and life came to mind. The purity and innocence of childhood. The continuous change and often scary challenges of life. I thank these beautiful floating lights for giving me a moment of reflection.

mmmmmmmm it makes me ponder...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work !
absolutely, positively, LOVE this!!! yes, it's dark...but it's night time, right? I think a lot of times the dark darks, and light lights in paintings/photographs are what makes them really artistic. LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteLove the fireflies! I've been seeing them everywhere at night... OK you've got to be doing this in Photoshop or something?? or are you using Painter? This reminds me of Maggie Taylor's work... are you familiar with her? She did the intros on The Ghost Whisperer. Very cool Ivy.
ReplyDeleteThank you guys for your comments I genuinely appreciate it ♥
ReplyDeleteValerie, oh yes it's a digital/photomontage in PSD I usually post the medium under my title. WOW I am honored that you said this piece reminds you of her work I love her stuff. Thanks Valerie!
I think this piece is fantastic, and I like the "darkness" of it. Love the girls in their red dresses, such a nice contrast/compliment to the green of the grass. Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I recently did a post about a lone firefly that landed just outside my window...here:

I really love your work, and your blog, I am going to add you to my blog roll now.
So glad I found you!

Oh wow. I love this piece. I think having the "twins" gives it that eery feeling, almost horror story like. I don't mean that in a bad way either...I know, sort of like a Stephen King Novel..so cooooool!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous work, Ivy! Your work is as you've described it...capturing a moment in time and I genuinely am transported to places when I view your pieces. Wonderful! Thank you so much for your kind visit so that I may discover your work!
ReplyDeleteFireflies are amazing to me. Love to watch them at night. And this piece is magnificent. Beautifuly done!
ReplyDeleteTerrific :)
ReplyDeleteThis is cool... in some way it reminds me of the Grant Wood/American Gothic somehow. The 2 figures, symbolism, etc. I love that the horizon line is up above their heads, like they're a little too far away from home when it's dark out. Great work. Happy creations, tj in germany
ReplyDeleteLove this! These girls are serious about their firefly collection...I know my girls are...:) beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteHello Ivy, Your work is magnificent. The your composition and the colors. Great work you do. Love you style. thanks so much for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteHola Ivy, oh, I thank you for this illustration! the fireflies have given you a moment of reflection... and your work does the same with me! I never catch fireflies... that was a dream in my childhood... for me, this picture isn't a bit dark, I think their darkness is perfect to transmit the idea of walks and night adventures. I want to run just now for this field that you have created!
ReplyDeleteWonderful,Ivy, you are a creator of spectacular climas.(Google me dice :weather. pero no es lo yo quiero decir)
ReplyDeleteThis is a work full of visual fantasy. We could speak of a magical realism (as Garcia Marquez in literature) in your paintings.
Congratulations!
Thank you all! I am humbled by your kind words ♥
